Washington, D.C. – Spectrum for the Future, a diverse coalition of innovators, anchor institutions, and technology companies, released the following statement in response to Rep. Rick Allen’s reintroduction of the Spectrum Pipeline Act.

“We respectfully disagree with Rep. Allen that the U.S. military should be forced to abandon the electromagnetic spectrum they require to defend our homeland and protect warfighters abroad,” said Tamara Smith, spokesperson for Spectrum for the Future. “Instead of catering to the ‘Big Three’ cellular giants, Congress should prioritize spectrum sharing: an America-first solution that protects our national security while also delivering new U.S. jobs, competition, and connectivity – not to mention returning as much as $19 billion in revenue to taxpayers. We look forward to working with Rep. Allen and the Energy and Commerce Committee to ensure that any final legislation will boost U.S. industry, ensure U.S. mobile competition, support job creators, and safeguard vital national security systems.”
