Washington, D.C. – Spectrum for the Future, a diverse coalition of innovators, anchor institutions, and technology companies, applauds Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) for a letter she sent last week to U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth urging the leaders to safeguard the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS). As stated in the letter, “CBRS has become an innovation band, supporting critical 5G connectivity and powering transformation across different sectors. These networks represent an important approach to connectivity for not only mission-critical operations at DoD, with sophisticated equipment-to-equipment connectivity that enhances operational efficiency and security, but also for the manufacturing capabilities our defense industrial base increasingly relies on.” The letter also highlights how CBRS serves as the “backbone of the networks powering our nation’s advanced manufacturing”  and is critical to the Trump Administration’s efforts to reshore and promote U.S. manufacturing.

“We echo Sen. Rosen’s call on Sec. Lutnick and Sec. Hegseth to support CBRS as it is ‘a strategic advantage for both our national security capabilities and our manufacturing competitiveness’,” said Tamara Smith, spokesperson for Spectrum for the Future.
