Spectrum for the Future Statement on CBRS Updates

Jun 12, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Spectrum for the Future (SFTF), a diverse coalition of innovators, anchor institutions, and technology companies, released the following statement on the updates to CBRS by FCC, NTIA, and the Navy.

“We applaud the FCC, NTIA, and Navy for their ongoing efforts to expand the reach of proven spectrum sharing regimes like CBRS. Dynamic sharing of mid-band spectrum boosts innovation and competition in the wireless market, without sacrificing national security. This new, collaborative agreement showcases how these technologies continue to improve, delivering new and better options for consumers year after year. This is exactly the kind of progress that can be unleashed by strong collaboration between government agencies,” said Tamara Smith, spokesperson for Spectrum for the Future.

“The announcement should also be welcome news for cellular providers like AT&T and Verizon that use the CBRS band as part of their private 5G cellular network portfolio and whose 5G Smart equipment is manufactured in a factory run on a CBRS-fueled private network,” concluded Smith.
