Washington, D.C. – Spectrum for the Future (SFTF) today released the following statement on the introduction of the “Spectrum Pipeline Act of 2024” by Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and John Thune (R-SD).

“This bill does not sufficiently enable the widespread use of spectrum coexistence that is critical to maintaining U.S. wireless leadership, facilitating consumer choice through competition, and protecting our vital national security systems. Demanding auction proceeds be allocated to the Treasury is an important nod to fiscal restraint, but it is inconsistent with the suggestion that taxpayers be forced to bear untold billions in costs to fund unnecessary relocations.,” said Tamara Smith, spokesperson for Spectrum for the Future.

“Spectrum for the Future looks forward to working with Senators Cruz and Thune to advance expedited commercial access to mid-band spectrum through coexistence technologies that will deliver greater innovation, efficient deployment, wide-ranging use cases, and vibrant market competition,” concluded Smith.
