Spectrum for the Future Urges Finalization of FCC Rules for Simple Sharing Regime in 37 GHz Band
Washington, D.C. – Spectrum for the Future, a diverse coalition of innovators, anchor institutions, and technology companies, released the following statement urging the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to swiftly finalize rules for shared spectrum in the 37 GHz band, as raised in the FCC’s public notice this August.
“With an extensive FCC record established, the time has come to unlock the next big frontier for spectrum sharing in the 37 GHz band,” said Tamara Smith, spokesperson for Spectrum for the Future. “Making the 37 GHz band available for commercial use alongside federal incumbents is critical to securing U.S. leadership in wireless innovation and accelerating competition. This band is ideal for a diverse range of uses, from Internet of Things networks to smart cities to mobile offload. We look forward to working with the FCC to swiftly establish final rules for commercial services in this band using database-centered, non-exclusive licensed sharing.”
