Spectrum for the Future Urges Congress to Extend U.S. Wireless Leadership with Dynamic Sharing

Jan 23, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Spectrum for the Future, a diverse coalition of innovators, anchor institutions, and technology companies, released the following statement regarding today’s hearing in the House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology on the subject of “Strengthening American Leadership in Wireless Technology.”

“For America to lead, federal policymakers must build on the proven success of U.S. spectrum sharing to ensure national security, turbo-charge domestic manufacturing, enhance rural connectivity, and create American jobs,” said Tamara Smith, spokesperson for Spectrum for the Future. “Dynamic spectrum sharing, as demonstrated by the success of the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS), has propelled the U.S. to the forefront of global wireless innovation. It maximizes a scarce national resource, while unlocking competition and fueling growth from family farms to factory floors. We applaud leaders in the House Energy & Commerce Committee for putting spectrum at the top of their agenda for 2025, and we look forward to working with lawmakers to advance America’s future global leadership in spectrum sharing technologies.”

Opponents of the shared-spectrum model, including the Big Three cellular carriers, have been spreading misinformation to further their agenda to increase exclusively licensed spectrum allocations. Our latest resource, FOUND HERE, debunks these spectrum myths.
