Washington, D.C. – Spectrum for the Future (SFTF), a diverse coalition of innovators, anchor institutions, and technology companies, highlighted opening remarks by U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, on the importance of preserving CBRS as America’s innovation band during yesterday’s House Energy and Commerce FCC Oversight hearing.
“CBRS is an American innovation, enabling thousands of businesses, manufacturers, and farmers to create jobs, boost economic growth and connect rural communities,” said Tamara Smith, spokesperson for SFTF. “SFTF appreciates that Rep. Hudson understands the need to protect this critical spectrum band and the negative consequences to the economy and innovation of disrupting the critical commercial services that rely on it.”
Rep. Hudson, along with 16 Republicans, previously wrote to Chairman Carr, urging him to “avoid disrupting or displacing” the vast ecosystem of U.S. companies and users who rely on dynamic spectrum sharing frameworks, like CBRS. He further reiterated his support for CBRS in a conversation with Punchbowl News last year.
