In case you missed it – Communications Daily recently published an article highlighting the continued uncertainty surrounding the future of the tremendously successful Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) following a recent FCC Open Commission Meeting. The article, which includes a comment from Spectrum for the Future, underscores why the FCC must move to preserve CBRS and deliver certainty to the thousands of American Companies who rely on the shared band, even as it focuses on the Upper C-Band.
“A spokesperson for Spectrum for the Future said the U.S. shouldn’t “squander” its leadership “in dynamic spectrum sharing and management” by abandoning CBRS. The group “strongly believes that the amazing successes we have seen in the CBRS band are inherently due to its lower power nature, enabling very dense deployments and maximizing spectrum efficiency via reuse,” the spokesperson said in an email. “It’s an open playing field that can accommodate a large number of users, deployments and service offerings in a given geographic area,” the article said.
CBRS is an American innovation, developed to meet American needs, and led by American companies. Without it, the nation risks billions in investments and jobs and ceding its role as a global wireless leader.
