In case you missed it – Spectrum for the Future submitted a letter to Senate Commerce Subcommittee Chairwoman Deb Fischer and Ranking Member Ben Ray Luján in connection with yesterday’s hearing, “Intelligent Networks: Powering Artificial Intelligence and Transforming Communications.” The letter highlights how Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) private networks and dynamic spectrum management are already helping advance U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence and wireless innovation.
The coalition notes that AI-powered applications increasingly depend on secure, reliable and locally controlled connectivity in factories, ports, farms, warehouses and military facilities. CBRS-based private LTE and 5G networks provide that critical communications layer while allowing organizations to tailor their networks to specific operational, security and performance needs.
“American industry, businesses, and the military are implementing advanced AI services with CBRS-based private mobile networks as the foundation,” the letter states.
The letter points to several real-world examples, including digital twins and predictive maintenance at John Deere manufacturing facilities, AI-powered aircraft inspections by the U.S. Navy, real-time perimeter security at Miami International Airport and automated logistics at the U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia.
Spectrum for the Future also highlights the role AI can play in advancing dynamic spectrum management. By improving spectrum sensing, coordination and network optimization, AI can help federal and commercial users share limited spectrum resources more efficiently without displacing critical incumbent operations.
As policymakers consider the intelligent networks needed to support America’s AI future, the coalition urges the Committee to preserve the successful CBRS framework, including current power levels, and expand access to spectrum for private 5G deployments.
