In case you missed it – telecom analyst Dean Bubley published a new article on LinkedIn chronicling the inaugural Connect Conference, held by the 5G OT-Alliance in December of 2025, highlighting the growing momentum for shared spectrum solutions like CBRS from private enterprises.

“The 5G-OT Alliance and its Connect event represent an important milestone in correcting this balance and looking towards the future – and ensuring that the importance, impact and irreplaceability of bands such as CBRS are more broadly understood,” wrote Bubley.

Bubley has more than 25 years of experience advising companies across the telecom industry on a variety of topics on spectrum policy, wireless technologies and emerging industry trends.

A new wireless industry association – the 5G-OT Alliance – held its inaugural Connect conference in Miami in December 2025, highlighting the critical role of private wireless networks and spectrum bands such as CBRS for “operational technology” or OT.

OT refers to industrial systems, which covers anything from robots in warehouses, to process-control in factories, and baggage-management systems and escalator controls at airports. It overlaps with the more-familiar “Internet of Things” (IoT), but specifically describes systems or devices that are part of a wider business process.

The event combined real-world case studies of Private 5G networks in a variety of enterprise settings with a call-to-action for businesses to unite and advocate more loudly to protect and extend their access to the spectrum bands, such as CBRS in the US, that power such private networks. Alongside participants from the manufacturing, transport and energy sectors, it also featured a number of prominent vendors and integrators. While it was predominantly US-focused, there was also an international component, which I hope expands further in future.
