Every day, more devices and users need access to a wider array of spectrum resources – and the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) is answering the call.
CBRS is a framework that utilizes dynamic spectrum sharing to boost connectivity, lower costs, and improve service quality. It allows locally licensed users to share spectrum bands also used by national security systems, including the U.S. Navy.
In just four years, CBRS has created U.S. jobs and driven billions of dollars in investment impacting all 50 states. In fact, more than 1,000 users of CBRS have deployed nearly 400,000 broadband access points nationwide.
It has generated new 5G network capacity and mobile competition, connected rural areas and spurred precision agriculture, and is powering new, cutting-edge American manufacturing.
It’s already being used to deliver wireless connectivity in:
- NFL stadiums
- Smart factories
- Airports
- Universities
- Rural communities
- Warehouses
- And more
Unfortunately, proposals to turn CBRS spectrum over to a few big wireless carriers threaten to shut down competition and jeopardize job creation and billions of dollars in investments by American companies.
That is why Congress must protect CBRS – an American innovation, developed to meet American needs, and led by American companies.
